From the village, you will have to go towards the Caroux massif for about ten minutes by car. The path to the canyon immediately sets the tone, since it is a series of turns on a small road that will take us off the beaten track. A large parking lot awaits us at the end of the road with a splendid view of the valley. Formerly the landscape consisted of a lake. And yes, a dam had been built there. : The Ayrette dam. But in 2014, it was destroyed, revealing a sumptuous view.

But the valley also offers a very beautiful hike in the heart of the Heric gorges. Notice to amateurs! Canyoning and slides:

However, there are many slides along this canyon, ranging from the smallest 2 meters to the large 8 meter slide. And to everyone’s delight, it may be redone, provided you have previously installed a handrail. A simple laid rope may suffice, but the ascent requires a little physical effort.

There are also other workshops in this canyon with a few jumps ranging from 2 to 7 meters, a watered abseil and another big abseil that may or may not be possible depending on the water levels. For these abseiling descents, it is possible to be lowered by the instructor in order to benefit from the sensations without the technical side. A zip line can also be installed depending on whether the water levels allow it or not.
