The Devil’s Canyon:
This discovery canyon, which is similar to a water hike, is one of the most popular around Montpellier. There are several reasons for this, its proximity, its setting and its accessibility.
It is located very close to Saint-Guilhem le Désert, a must-see medieval village in the region. Nearby you will also find the Devil’s Bridge, famous in the region for the jumps that can be done there and swimming in the nearby lake. But beware of jumps, many accidents are recurring. Better to enjoy swimming supervised by lifeguards in the summer. For those looking for freshness, there is also the Clamouse cave to visit.
For this canyon in the heart of the Hérault gorges, we evolve in a limestone landscape typical of the Mediterranean. You can meet rather atypical people there like the white-crested pincers, rainbow trout, pike and even a freshwater crab, originally from Turkey.
This discovery canyon is accessible to the greatest numbers and offers many possibilities. There is little approach and the workshops are fun and all bypassable. It consists of a good part of floating, jumps ranging from 1 to 10 meters, abseiling in spider wire, a zip line and passage under siphon. It is perfect for families or groups of friends of heterogeneous levels, because all workshops can be bypassed. If you only want to enjoy the scenery and accompany your loved ones, you can simply let yourself be carried by the water. It is an aquatic canyon, so it is possible to enjoy it for a good part of the year.

The canyon of the Arcs ravine:
This discovery canyon is located 30 minutes north of Montpellier, taking the direction of Ganges. Close to Saint-Martin in London, the place is also very well known to the people of Montpellier for hiking the ravine of Les Arcs. This canyon is an ephemeral course. Indeed, it is not passable all year round, because it is necessary that there is good rain so that it is in water. It is usually done in spring or fall. It is often an alternative to the Devil’s Canyon when there is too much water in it.
After 15 minutes of approaching, the start of the activity consists of a floating approach phase where you can learn to jump. It is then when you arrive at the famous arch that the canyon takes on its full meaning with its reminder of a spider thread. A great similarity with the Vallon Pont d’Arc arch (smaller all the same). We cross the arch in the middle to reach the river. It also consists of a magnificent zip line and jumps ranging from 1 to 9 meters. In short, a pretty Hérault canyon to discover when conditions allow.

The Soucy canyon:
To reach this discovery canyon, it is necessary to get closer to the Cévennes national park in the Gard area. It is located near Saint-Jean du Gard and Anduze, which is considered the gateway to the Cévennes, with its natural border. Different from the previous canyons, we evolve here in a granite rock which was dug by the Gardon de Saint-Jean.
The departure of the canyon is at the Roman bridge of Soucy. Like the previous canyons, in this course all the workshops are bypassable, thus making it accessible to families and heterogeneous groups. Very varied, it offers many workshops ranging from jumps between 2m and 9m, natural slides and a very nice zip line splash. Little approach, it is the ideal route to understand canyoning and the Cévennes National Park. And while you’re there, you can enjoy the Bambouseraie and the little train from Cévennes to Anduze.

The Rec Grand canyon:
Change of scenery for this canyon discovered near Montpellier, and let’s take the west direction of Montpellier in the Haut Languedoc regional park, and more precisely in the Caroux massif. This route is located near Mons la Trivalle, a village well known in the region for these outdoor activities and the famous Heric gorges. If you don’t know, you have to go there at least once, if only for the beauty of the landscape and to contemplate this wild nature.
Regarding the Rec Grand canyon, we can consider it as a miniature of the Llech canyon in the Pyrenees Orientales. Fun and aquatic, it is a series of more or less vertical slides that makes up the main part of this course (including one of 10 meters which can be repeated several times). Of course you will find other workshops with rappelling under a waterfall and progressive heights to finish with the 8 meter one. Accessible also to the greatest number by its ease to bypass obstacles, it is ideal for a canyon initiation. To advise all the same for lovers of slides and slides, since it is the workshop that characterizes this canyon.

The Orgon waterfall canyon:
Back in the Cévennes National Park for this adventure canyon. A little more sporty and technical than the previous courses, it is on the southern slope of the massif, above the Vigan that we go. A half-hour approach walk in lush and wild nature to reach the start of the descent. We often find ourselves alone in this canyon, which accentuates our bucolic pleasure.
So a lot of use of the rope to initiate abseiling under a waterfall. The ideal being to make this canyon in spring or autumn, so that it is sufficient in water and thus take advantage of the many waterfalls that mark it. It is possible to do the full descent or half-day (allow 3 to 4 hours). In its entirety, the first part consists essentially of abseiling, including one of 30 meters. The second part (which can therefore be done for half a day) is more varied. It is a mix of abseiling (up to 15 meters), jumps up to 8 meters and hiking in the river. But the highlight of this canyon is undoubtedly Icarus’ ejection slide. Sensations guaranteed and repeat as many times as necessary.

The canyon of the stream of Albès:
In the same line as the previous canyon, this canyoning descent consists of a lot of abseiling runs ranging from 10 to 30 meters. Located in the Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park, we are therefore 90 km west of Montpellier. Like the canyon of the Orgon waterfalls, we also find ourselves there in the heart of a wilderness. The start of the route is after a 40-minute walk. Impressive with a cliff of a hundred meters which is right behind us.
The first part of the canyon therefore consists of a series of abseiling, up to 30 meters. The second part becomes more fun with some slides and jumps requiring precision. It’s not about jumping anywhere and you have to amortize. A beautiful hike in the riverbed under the woods, to finally arrive at the last 2 jumps of a good ten meters.

However, you will cross the national park and it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful roads in the region that you will discover. If you pass by Anduze, it is worth a stopover, and if you pass by Ganges, you can stop for a swim near Ganges or then enjoy the village of Valleraugue.
Regarding the canyon, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful descents in the national park. Considered one of the pearls of the Cévennes, it is a natural aqualand that you will discover. You should know that this canyon is open from May to September inclusive. In the summer period (July-August), park in the village of Rousses and use the shuttle provided to take canyoners from the canyon. This descent brings together many facets of canyoning with diversion passages in basins of crystal clear water. Abseiling, jumps up to 12 meters, slide, zip lines … And each obstacle clearance can be done in different ways. It is therefore possible to redo the canyon in a different way and thus rediscover it.
